I needed a Safe no Hassle upload today.

I chose Sendspace.

https://www.sendspace.com/

The files only stay there 7 days.
But no need to register.
I didn't use an email address.
There is another free option there with ads.

I downloaded my file to check that the link I was given worked,
and I scanned it also.
Everything was good to go.

I looked on Whirlpool Forum for uploaders, and that is why I chose it.

Free File Hosts

http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/free_file_hosts

:::::::::

I uploaded Network Magic 4 XP

Description: Old Network Magic 4 XP
Before Cisco bought them out.
Still works after 7 days do not update.
Do Not Update

https://www.sendspace.com/file/oc8cb5

So be quick...upload it somewhere else as you wish
This is very hard to get.

No offence meant Chris but why would you want to post all this windows rubbish on a puppy forum !.

As usual. I love this thread. But then. I guess rubbish can re-purposed by a desert linux using creature like me.

Keep it alive bro.

Perish the thought
Its a last resort on a securely isolated machine to do something until I can work out how to do it in Linux. Rarely used these days I am pleased to say.
That, plus the fact that many Puppy users ended up in the kennels through total disillusionment with Windows.....mostly following EOL with XP, I would guess. And, as Burn_IT says in the following post, some poor buggers actually have to make a living helping out Windows users (usually Joe Bloggs down the road, who doesn't know his hard drive from his monitor..!)

Keep up the good work, Chris. It's all grist for the mill, mate.

A lot of them are people who have to use Windows at work, but use Linux at home. They are the worst because they are often deliberately awkward.

I came across this on Majorgeeks

Untested by me.

On the other hand Lazesoft Recovery Suite is often mentioned

This is the free version.

Also untested by me.

Softpedia link..I never trust Cnet.
Majorgeeks are also good to go for downloads.

As always: automatic tools will often cause more problems than they solve.

My advice is by all means use these tools to highlight POSSIBLE problems, but never allow them to fix them. The fixing needs to be done by someone with deep knowledge of the systems.

Coping of data does NOT fall under the headline FIX WINDOWS

I use Puppy to access failed Windows systems, but I will only copy and replace things that I would have done in Windows had it been up and running -and that are acceptable fixes.

I suspect that will take quite a while and many laws.

Besides if you want to go somewhere and not drive there are perfectly good and cheaper existing ways of doing it.

I also suspect that either traffic will grind to a halt or there will be a lot of problems with whose machine caused the crash.

I'm not disputing that, but until I try it I think it highly unlikely.
Do you mean you cannot get it to boot because of EufI or what doesn't work??

I have just tried it and it is fine. I even loaded a quick XP from it.
The tools work from a Windows 10 boot.

I suspect you may have access right restictions, but the same are likely to apply to the UBCD as well.

As I said first, check the boot options.

" anyone know a good alternative to Hirens Boot CD.
it won't work on windows 10 anymore. "

"""""""

I had a good look and I didn't want to make it too technical
and a turn off when all you want is a fixit.

I also looked at Falcon boot cd to see if they had a fix.

I have turned off secure boot etc and booted rescue discs and on some machines you can't see any drives.
Probably A GPT partition thing.

jmatt on Whirlpool Forums often recommends Lazersoft

I don't have a machine with the horrible boot enabled and i am not going to turn it on or install it just to test things.
I have all Win 10 running without it (when I want W10) and until MS lose a lot of business by forcing it on me I'm going to be happy not to use it.

It does not actually make things more secure and just annoys the "£$% out of those that have to bypass it to do their job.

Whirlpool forum post.

Apparently there is a big problem with Windows 10 recently.
So back up your email.

I have never ever had a problem with Ccleaner ever,
but this is nasty.

Getting windows to change its boot startup to boot from USB

Posted: Sat 12 Aug 2017, 18:48
by april
Hoping Chris or someone familiar with Windows 10 can guide me .

I have a friend with windows on the machine and it will not read my ext4 file system which is a bugger because my movie backup is on ext4.

So I gave her a CD with puppy precise on it and then we tried to change the BIOS in settings to boot from CD first . F10 got us there and we changed it but it did not work.

Doing it a few times I noticed a small arrowhead to the left of the windows O/S entry and I am guessing that's the default indicator and it would not move.

Anyone know how we do this ? Have the password available but just don't know where to go to move default?

You need theWindows Ext4 drivers. They are not loaded by default.
