PET for new version of OSMO?

#1 Post by docsulo »

I really like OSMO. It's small and efficient. However, the version on Puppy 4.3.1 lacks any search function. The new version of OSMO (2.10) now has a Search function for notes and tasks. Awesome!

Does anyone have a PET for this new version or can they direct me to a tutorial so I can make one?. I have never manually installed a package on LINUX so that would be new and I'm not sure I'll even attempt it without some guidance (which is why I really like Puppy and it's PETS). So if anyone has the PET available I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.

I compiled a new version a couple of months ago (don't recall which, but it is in 4.4 alpha 1)... see my signature for a tutorial though - pet packaging 100 & 101

I compiled the new version for Puppeee - great because it has a widescreen mode that actually fits netbooks.

Not so great is the additional dependency on libgtkhtml.

In a previous post technosaurus said "to see his signature" - but I don't know what that means.

Could someone please point me to a .pet for either osmo-0.2.10 or 0.2.8 (which is the previous version I think).

Thanks so much.

compiled them on 4.3.1 and backported Barry's hacked versions of the Surfer html viewer while I was at it

Note: may need to tweak the /usr/share/applications/*.desktop files for the menu entries

Hi technosaurus,

Thank you very much. On a small point, perhaps I should have uninstalled 0.2.8 first since although I now have 0.2.10 the first line at the top of the main screen still reads "Osmo 0.2.8"

My regards

I think its just an oversight in the source code, but it is fine - its still 0.2.10 (check the about/help) - I spent a minute or two trying to track it down but couldn't find that particular instance... everything I found in main.c used MAJOR_VERSION "." MINOR_VERSION... or some equivalent.

On a separate note - the surfer pets could go nicely as the defaulthtmlviewer with the newer versions of firefox-3.X and seamonkey-2.X that don't have gtkmozembed. This version has the rarely used gnet and libSystem dependencies compiled in statically and are still less than half the size of the default compile (simply by adding compiler optimizations)

Tasks in OSMO : who will do the job ?

#11 Post by Pelo »

What would be nice would be to affect a contact to a task !
Contacts can be everything : your pets, your furniture, your equipment. you just have to consider them as human.
Import tasks is missing (but export exists)
Merci to puppy users who sustain my fight for having a no buggued OSMO in the distro menu.
It would'nt be a fight. But someones try to burry Osmo.

Pets version 0.2.12 OSMO

Thanks to french forum where Medor carefully provides users with the more up-to-date applications
osmo version 12 click here
Pls update the desktop topic consequently.

Small experience : don't open OSMO or close it (save files before). Go in root/.osmo and replace xml file contacts by my file (tar.gz joined).
Open OSMO. Sort records as it suits for you.
