How to make Seamonkey's tabs take up less room?

#1 Post by DaveS »

Been playing with Quirky again lately, using the knowledge gained over the last few months. It is kinda nice to be using Seamonkey again, but DAMN, is there no way to reduce the height of the stoopid tabs? They take up a HUGE amount of screen doing basically very little. Frankly, I would prefer a drop-down................

Have you tried the F11 function key?
It toggles between full screen and regular with menu bars.
If you are talking about the Personal Toolobar, I usually right-click on the entry and select rename.

Not quite what I mean. I only display the url bar and tab bar, all other menus are hidden, but the tabs are so high they waste a lot of screen space.

Try another theme.
Time savers:
Find packages in a snap and install using Puppy Package Manager (Menu).

Stick this in your userChrome.css and smoke it....lol

Code: Select all

.tabbrowser-tab {
height: 6px !important;
min-height: 6px !important;
max-height: 25px !important;
}
Just need to figure out the font size in the tab.. :shock:

Often it is: font-size: 6pt !important;

There are many configuration options in SeaMonkey's Edit -> Preferences or you may be able to choose not to show tabs in View -> Show/Hide. I've never tried it so I can't say for sure.

Er... not quite. Been this route before. Here are some screenshots. First,default theme modified via userchrome. Notice deep gutter on inactive tab and icons chopped in half. Second, Pinball Theme. Nice and compact. Finally, the default, using small icon option. Tabs look huge and waste space.
Maybe I should not be so picky :)

Up to 1.1.18 I used the pinball theme also. Didn't work in the early days of SeaMonkey 2.x.x, but I think there is a compatible version now.
I then used the early blue theme and made the modification in userChrome. :D

LittleMonkey theme with ColorfulTabs and SeaTab X. Compact, close buttons on tabs, active tab highlighted. Not what I'd call pretty, but works well for me.[/img]
