Install puppy linux from MS DOS

#1 Post by farazk86 »

I have a very old toshiba tecra laptop and I think only puppy will be able to run it, so i downloaded the latest release and burned it onto a CD.

Now the problem is the bios does not have a first boot device = CD ROM,
it only supports floppy drive as the first boot.

so I cant boot from it.

The laptop already has windows 98 on it, so I can restart windows in MS DOS mode.

any way I can run puppy installer from there?

any ideas how to install it on this machine?

Thanks

Go here and get the "grubflop" package.

Follow the instructions for making a bootable floppy disk.

But if your Tecra doesn't have at least 64 MB of memory, you are wasting your time.
