How to download YouTube videos?
Good night, someone who knows any program to download youtube's videos, cclive program doesn't work, thanks in advance!
I'm not 100% sure, but I think youtube keeps moving the goal posts, making it harder for software to keep current. I usually just copy the /tmp/Flash*&^ file to wherever, and rename. If you have java installed, I know t his program used to work:

Or, if you were using firefox, there are many addons available here.

As muggins highlights you can copy the video out of your /tmp directory after you have watched it or started then paused so it loads through to the end.
There's also sites like Keepvid, too.
[ Puppy 4.3.1 JP, Frugal install ] * [ XenialPup 7.5, Frugal install ] * [XenialPup 64 7.5, Frugal install] * [ 4GB RAM | 512MB swap ]

Re: download videos
True. You can do that. But the whole problem is that there is no installed software to play that saved file. There's the rub. With most other video clip sites you can just click on that saved file and it will play in an installed player, but no longer does this happen with most youtube videos.stu90 wrote:puppyto wrote:As muggins highlights you can copy the video out of your /tmp directory after you have watched it or started then paused so it loads through to the end.
Well, that's my experience. Maybe you have a way to open it with firefox's flash player?
I think I'm going to have to investigate a plug-in for firefox to convert the downloaded file to a format that can be played by MPlayer.

I don't save many videos but the ones in /tmp always seem to work for me, i just click on them?
if you are using Lucid Puppy maybe give ClipGrab .pet (link in my post above) a try, it is a downloader and converter in one.

Download Youtube videos in Opera 11 beta in Puppy 4.31
The Opera 11 beta I posted on November 23rd can download YouTube videos:
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=62233
YouTube downloader extension for it:
https://addons.labs.opera.com/addons/ex ... display=en
I am finding that Opera 11 beta is not 100% stable in Quirky and Wary but is extremely stable in Puppy 4.31, I'm using this one:

Screen capture of the video I'm watching right now:

(note the download button below the player window)

Youtube is pretty easy I suppose.
For those really tough sites, use your ~/.mozilla/../../Cache directory.
Open your file manager in the Cache directory and sort by date or size,
which ever seems best.
Watch the progress bar on the video. It moves faster than the playback, if
you have highspeed.
When the progress bar completes, you have the file. Pause the playback,
then grab the file with a copy operation. Don't move it out of Cache or
you'll confuse the SeaMonster. Just copy it to another location.
After you have the file, you can give it a meaningful name.
Of course, I don't know if this wood [sic] work. I just thought I'd jump in
and try and look like I know a trick.
~
Tip: Adjust the size of the cache to at least contain the full size of the flv,
some of these are big.

You stay on top of the Jesse Ventura Conspiracy
I'll cover the WikiLeaks mess for us.
Any volunteers to stay at the fort and protect the women and children?
