Fatdog/Lucid USB Boot

Not sure if this is the right place...but I seem to be having trouble booting either of these versions from a USB drive I made to be bootable.

Am wanting to try out these versions on an AMD 9850 with 8 GB of DDR2 memory. Formatting the 2 GB stick as FAT32...I get stuck with the install program looking for scripts it can't find as soon as it hits the USB stick. Formatting the 2 GB stick as FAT16...I can get either version of Puppy to boot...after 10-15 minutes of waiting to get to the desktop.

After coming to the desktop at the end of the waiting period...everything works fine and flies like I have never experienced in over 30 years of operating computers. Can even reboot and do a save file to the USB drive which it finds on the next reboot.

Looking up the first error message about the scripts...tried changing the boot files from one file name to another with no success. Even the file the forum said was not there was there.

I was so happy to be able to use either version this afternoon...but there has to be some type of fix for the FAT32 and the waiting period. Hope I'm not the only one who's had this problem.

in order for anyone to help you resolve these problems you would need to specify what the actual error messages say. Puppy usually has no problems booting off fat32 formatted usbkeys. (Providing your BIOS supports it)

As far as I'm aware there is no one standard for USBs.

Maybe try the Hirens formatter and System Linux here.

Turn it more to a hard drive.
Then drag the boot files there...see if it boots
or use the Puppy installer after.

I've been too busy fixing numerous computers to test this approach,
this week. Certainly Hirens boots with no issues.
