Homepage:
http://www.r-project.org/

Download:
http://dotpups.de/dotpups/Office/R/

First, install the Dotpups with the libg2c.so and less.
Then install the alien Package with Pupget.
Note R is 58 MB in size, you will need ~double size free Diskspace temporarily for installation.
be patient - install of such a huge pack lasts several minutes!

Pupget will say libR.so is missing, ignore that, as R has its own mechanism to find it.

After installation, type "R" in a consolewindow.
This gives me a working "R"-Prompt.
But for additional features, you might need to install other things like latex or so, no idea.
Tell me, if it missess something.
This package is a conversion of http://cran.xedio.de/bin/linux/mandrake ... k.i586.rpm
Notes: http://cran.xedio.de/bin/linux/mandrake/

Documentation: Search in ROX the folders
/usr/share/doc
and
/usr/share/info
and
/usr/lib/R/doc

Hi Mark,

you are a diamond for this community !

I installed R (btw, unpacking the alienpackage takes quite some time, perhaps something to mention in the howto), and it exits with a message that it installed ok but there is one lib missing.

However, a quick scan of a series of basic functions (more on the way) shows that at least on my system it works perfect. There is no issue with the demo(graphics) package.

All the documentation can be read on the website and the various books in teh field, so making the manuals als pdf or latex documents is not really an issue. Never did it myself, by the way.

You have really helped me a lot, thanks very much !

Regards, Owl.

Very wonderful, no need for me personally to update but I am very happy that there are some active R users in the Puppy community !

Regards,
Owl.

Me, I'm just learning  but R it's nice isn't it? I would like to use some gui interface, but the totality of those enlisted in cran.r-project.org are - to me - difficult to impossible to implement in Puppy.

Hi,

No, I don't use the graphical interface. I am a simple syntax builder . . . .

Owl.
