How to to save to CD in burner drive not boot drive?

#1 Post by dln9 »

Puppy 5.1.1, trying to run it exclusively from a CD.

My old computer has two CD drives: #1 is bootable and appears in the BIOS, but it is read only. #2 will burn, and works fine, but is not in the BIOS, so can't be used for booting.

So, I put the initial Puppy CD into drive #1, and Puppy boots just great. Then, I make changes. Then, I shutdown, and Puppy asks if I want to save my session. I do, but I want to put the CD into drive #2 and then do the saving. But, Puppy insists that the saving be done in the same drive in which the booting took place - drive #1 in this case.

How can I make the saving process occur in drive #2, while still booting (using the same CD) in drive #1?

(I really, really don't want to open up the computer and mess with cables and "jumpers" that I don't understand.)

Thanks.
