How do I paste into the terminal? |
|
I wanted to install flash player by pasting in a command from a forum, but when I opened urxvt there was no menu, and it doesn't respond to either Ctrl + V or Ctrl/shift +V.
How do I paste? Should there be a menu?

Paste "insert" into the forum search.

Hold left mouse button down and highlight desired text.
Click center mouse button to paste text in terminal.
For the "middle" button on a two button mouse, click both butttons at the same time.

Hi again Aitch,
For those who don't have a middle mouse button - using Shift + Insert should be an alternative way to paste text into a terminal.
I only mention it becuase I find it easier than clicking my left and right buttons simultaneously.
My regards

Okay, while we're dealing with this, is there a way to go the other direction? How would you copy the text from the terminal, and paste it into a document, or a forum post?

Ctrl+c in most but not all puppies.
Some puppies must do highlite then ctrl+c then paste into geanie, then copy from geanie to browser. Direct copy to browser wont work for those few puppies
