Have you tried the samsung_unified-2.5.3.pet from here?

Your desktop has an icon called Setup. Click it.
Select: Setup CUPS Printer
The CUPS web interface will start.
Click the Administration tab.
Select: Find New Printers.
Follow the steps.
When you get to Model, select your printer from the list.

There is another Samsung printer driver called "splix". You can get it here. See Item #8. It has a driver for the CLP300 that you can try.

Here is a driver made from the Samsung Unified package that has the components specific to your printer. It may work better. I noticed that the Samsung Unified Driver's installer can really mess up your Puppy. You may need to do a fresh install of Puppy to clean things up before you try this new driver.

I'm surprised that the samsung-clp310.pet didn't work at all. Here is what I would try next:

1. Delete your current printer from CUPS.

2. Go to the folder /usr/lib/cups/backend

3. Delete the file named "mfp"

4. Reboot your computer and install your printer again.

I have no way to knowing what driver Ubuntu is using.

My mistake. I had tested the samsung-clp310.pet above in CUPS 1.3.11. It has a permissions problem that only appears in CUPS 1.4.x.

I have uploaded a new version that works OK with a simulated install of your printer model.

You may need a fresh install of Puppy to clear up the permissions mess.

That's good news. But why did you reinstall Ghostscript, and from where? Puppy already has Ghostscript installed.

the file is ghostscript - 8.70-i486.pet but no remember the link. i installed it only for update. But i think the solution is the 315 driver and no 310.
thanks
