A small suite wrapped around asmfile. Incredible small size and functionality - works from console and in shell under X.
asmfile 34K
asmplan 29K
asmfind 14K
fileset 21K
All installed sizes - all static binaries - no dependencies.
Included small file launcher scripts - modify to you own needs.
Source of asmfile slightly changed by me...
Use at your own risk - I have no knowledge about assembler-coding...
Packed to work in pupngo - might not work properly in you normal puppy...
Update: For F-keys to work (if they do not) in console and rxvt view npierce´s excellent how-to.
Renamed to: Very tiny utilities

Who will console meUse at your own risk
if things go wrong?
OK I am up for it.
Works in Luci-236 (Puppy 5.2 beta)
Very impressive.
Being a quiche eater, I need a GUI front end
and these little programs cry out for that
We used to have a console based Puppy
time for a revival?

Thought that this could be more project-like if it covers a collection of very tiny utilities - a place to post what you already have or find of these impressive utilities.
Main goal is as small as possible (including the size of dependencies if any) and as much functionality as possible.
So post some goodies if you have/find some!
To expand the collection a bit attached a program timer (8K static) showing more than the normal time-command...

Do not know - but here is a howto switch to a console lifestyle . The blog indeed also have many good thoughts about being minimalistic/maximalisticWe used to have a console based Puppy

autologinroot is a small utility - 2844B - but depends on libc. A static version weighs 4216K. Same functionality can be obtained by using a simple script replacing autologinroot:
making the size 28B and for the creative script-maker opens for additional functionality ex. ask the user if she want to use autologinroot at all...
The script will depend on BusyBox but the default autologinroot does that as well and on top of that needs libc.
Code: Select all
#!/bin/sh
exec login -f root
