multisession CD blanks and pads |
|
A lot of space is taken between tracks on a CD. I was reading the source and history of cdrecord. The Idea of the multisession CD was taken from the kodak CD of yesteryear (last century) 4 seconds between orginal and second track, two seconds between every following track, Berrys scripts tacks on an additional pad between each track for good measure. At least 12M skip between tracks. It would be a guess but a good indicator would be to use, cdrecord -msinfo multiply the larger number by 2K add 12M then subtract from 700M for MAX free space usable, but burner beware!

Nope mostly linear ( except for rare cases or forced pad ) the worst is about 2k most common just 4 bytes, good explain on puppy help files. I wonder if cdrecord coulds be re-written to behave more like growisofs.
