one way; click the desktop-icon "Console" (a picture of a black screen), this
is called a "terminal" in linux...
>in a terminal, type #alsa and press the [tab] button twice
>you'll see the AdvancedLinuxSoundArchitecture tools now, and
the one you want to run is #alsactrl
>this runs a wizard that'll (hopefully) get your sound working great.
>you can also run #alsamixer to check/change your "levels"
(you'll see; "press F5" for "all" the controls in that program)
>I have no-idea where retrovol is (the in-taskbar volume control)
but you could try running that command (#retrovol) in that terminal too
I guess??
(haha, sorry for the 'console'-based answer - you know all this stuff is in
the menu too, but I can't see that menu as mine is fully different )

Have you not had sound working at all yet?
Try running the Alsa sound wizard (under Setup in the menu... unless Ttuuxxx is using a non-standard menu).

Just rebooted into 214x, Alsa Wizard is in the usual place.
