Which version of Puppy are you running?
Did you try just clicking on the .pet?

OK, I had an earlier version installed, and just updated the 2 files as shown here:
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=53171
This will get you to 0.96.4, from the Debian package. Don't try to be fancy, just click on each of the .deb files and it will ask if you want to install them.
If you watch Debian, and 0.96.5 is the very newest (I don't know when 0.96.4 was upgraded), it will likely be updated in a few days.
Follow the same recipe -- keeping those 2 .deb files updated.
It might be worth pinging Yorkie, and see if he has a new patch also.
I did all of this under Puppy 4.3.1, and I always recommend making a backup of your pupsave before installing new software (there is always a danger that a new library will break some critical part of your system).
