When I use one of these utilities it will extract but then what do I got to do
I am trying to get k3b and realplayer
I tried the vector linux pkgs and slackware pkgs
Is there a bunch of coding or whatever
I and a bunch of new linux users have no clue
especially me I have googled but what am I looking for I keep asking myself?

getting a pre-compiled package designed for another distro to work in Puppy can be tricky
after you unzip the package, you have to put the files in the package somewhere where they will work (binaries usually need to go somewhere in PATH, library files usually need to go in thr LD_LIBRARY_PATH, sometimes files have to go in one place only, usually /usr somewhere)
sometimes there are dependency problems ... you don't have the library files or programs installed that the package needs to work
sometimes you have to figure out how to configure it to work with Puppy
installing the realplayer codecs for mplayer might work
