How does a Linux beginner install drivers?

#1 Post by jtimR2 »

I have read for a few days and Installed from cd and flashdrive. I need basic help on install drivers. I'm not in a hurry and have been able to use the console a bit and system info for hardware details. I have broadcom wireless network device and realtec rtl8139 network adapter. I also have dwl122 wireless usb adapter I could use. The info I need is exactly how would you install any driver. I am not exactly clear about files and command lines and editors etc. I do not know how to use ndiswrapper if required. :| realtec shows up on eth0 just not connecting to router.
Baby steps for me here thanks. Ver.1.0.7
If I knew grandkids were so much fun I would have had them first.
Wow, more grandkids since last here, gifts

 I've decided that plenty of info is available on the forumn and tutorials and wiki. Installed a partiion and ver. 1.0.8 and was able to get online at eth0 . using only wizard for ethernet Lan very cool. It did add a file besides the realtec file installed on boot. Happy here Now and will stay after other many issues sound, wireless, various usb and pci devices not reconized. :)
