Show an icon on the task bar if a (semaphore) file exists

#1 Post by ocpaul20 »

Do you think it would be possible for someone to write me little script which shows an icon in the task bar when a file exists please?

I run a cron job every morning and most days it goes off without a problem. However, it would be really nice to have a visual indicator if it failed for whatever reason. Maybe the script could show different icons if different files were present?

Or even.... if there is a similar script out there, I could adapt it.

When clicked, the icon would maybe disappear/quit?

Thanks.
Paul

gtrayicon should do it for you - It is in wary already, and is also used in Pwireless2
Check out my github repositories. I may eventually get around to updating my blogspot.

Ok, thanks for that, but I am not really sure what these are or where I get them from. I have done a file search search on my Puppy 510 and nothing comes up. They are not packages as I have done a search the puppy manager. Forgive me for being so ignorant, but could you give me more info on this please?

Second post down on this topic has Gtrayicon, but I don't know if there is a more up to date version.
