Digitally signed firmware makes hardware acceleration with free software a no-go

Oh boo hooo... and sounds like they are protecting their interests from unscupulous card makers.

Considering they have the BEST driver suport for linux and do it well its not exactly spilt milk in the REAL world.

Is supporting digital signing beyond the abilities of the GNU gods?

I'm personally more of a fan of the proprietary drivers so as long as Nvidia release their own it doesn't bother me though People seem to have a love affair with the nouveau drivers so i'm sure it will upset some.

As you say you can't blame Nvidia for protecting their interests.

I think we agree there.... indeed I found those pushing nouveau bordered on the obsessive taking steps to make using nvidias as awkward as possible for some distros.
Ok its nice having open source ..eg b43 vs broadcoms wl but not at the sacrifice of usability.

If Nvidia provide Linux support then perhaps that should be enjoyed no matter in what legal form it comes...I wish other vendors were so helpful.
