the files you posted show that faad2-2.7-wolfe.pet and not faad2-2.7-wolfe.pet here is the link it has the syslink for the libfaad.so.0 in it

faad2-2.7-V3-wolfe.pet

Sorry just notice that I did not upload try this lib or you can use this command to fix the problem

ln -s /usr/lib/libfaad.so.2.0.0 /usr/lib/libfaad.so.0 in a terminal window

Thanks, GrumpyWolfe. That pet did the trick. :) Did not use the command because I had uninstalled pianobar and faad figuring I would wait and see what turned up first.

I will be using these posts and pets to see if this fix will work in Big Mikes TLOS Quirky Based Pup also later this weekend. Thanks again GrumpyWolfe.

I have them saved in a Pets Direcory in /root for later. Can transfer via my made USB. Cool beans.

You asked about Frisbee well I checked it out and here is what you need to install

http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... h&id=37704

http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... h&id=37701

http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... h&id=37700

And all should go as planed. One thing you need to do is menu/settings/session and startup / Application autostarte add a new startup to the config and point it to the root/startup/Frisbee script in the startup foulder. Uncheck the one for Network applet

Thanks GrumpyWolfe. Downloaded. Set it up in Startup Session. Unchecked Network Applet.

Working so far. Will see how it goes. Usually if I was replying to a post or out of browser too long connection would drop and I would go through reconnect sequence. Good Practice for a noob. :)

Thanks again for being patient and taking the time out for us testers. :) . Nothing to be sorry about. Real World one must eat and stay warm. Good to hear you have a lot of work also. Mine is picking up also (fixing motorcycles) since the weather warmed up.

Happy Trails, Rok

EditL I can say that Frisbee is working quite nicely. No drops. Survives reboot. Just a 1 day test though.

Finished product

#96 Post by rokytnji »

Having everything set up like I wish I just had to show you.

Could not get Opera 11.1 to pick up /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so.
Tried all kinds of combos. Ran opera in /opt. Ran tar from in forum. Ran Opera Snapshot in /root. Stubborn thing would not pick up flash no matter where pointed to in preferences>content>plugin options. Wasted too much time on Opera.

So scrapped that and went with SeaMonkey 2.0.11 tar.bz2 and running it from /opt and flash and my java is picked up. Just using it as a backup browser for Firefox. I always run one backup browser in all my Linux installs.

Using Pup-Shots screenshot utility from http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 1aa12925e4 .
Works good and is shorter than using gimp.

Just posting for info

#98 Post by rokytnji »

Moved my pen drive over to Wifes Laptop in Subj. Description.

Booted in My Wolfe ram mode (like running a live CD session)
Probe>Xorg>1280x1024 got me to XFCE. Screen was way dim.
Rebooted (without save) and chose vesa 1280X1024. Screen OK.

I a not going to load correct display driver as this is my wifes laptop and if she knew I was playing with Puppy on her Windows 7 Premium Laptop. She would kill me.

No Tap with touchpad on this model of Acer Laptop either. I mentioned before that tap works on EEEPC though. Like I said just posting info. Wireless works using stock network manager applet. Inxi readout below for showing Hardware Specs.

So rokytnji how would you like to have a way to auto login to painobar. If so then download this file
config-example
and put in the root/.config folder in a folder called painobar. Then open it and change the user name and password. Be sure and delete the # from in front of each of the username and password lines.

Enjoy

pianobar and opera 11.0.1

#101 Post by rokytnji »

Do I need to make the pianobar autologin executable GrumpyWolfe for it to Work?

As far as the Opera 11.0.1 Pet. It gave the same results as my other Opera installs. It picks up my java,Scalable Vector Graphics,Google Talk Plugin,Google Talk Plugin Video Accelerator. I can get it it pick up Xine later by adding another path. But for whatever reason it won't pick up libflashplayer.so from /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins or any other place I put libflashplayer.so like /root/.mozilla/firefox/plugins or even /usr/lib/opera/plugins directory. I have not tried downloading latest adobe flash and copying over libflashplayer.so yet to all above mentioned directories with your pet yet. Just have the stock preferences pointing to the libflashplayer.so in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins and /user/lib/xulrunner/plugins and /usr/lib/opera/plugins (which is empty right now).

I spent so much time trying to configure opera to grab all my plugins a few days ago and got irritated that no matter where I put latest adobe downloaded flash. Opera acted like it was invisible. So since it is late here. I will give this another shot tomorrow. I will look for any replies before starting. I ask about pianobar autostart because I tried it in AntiX first in /root/.config/pianobar and it would not auto login after commenting out user and password and entering my data. Just tried the same in /root/.config/pianobar in mywolfe and same result. No auto login. Hence wondering if I should make the file executable.

Working hard here sandblasting Out house cabinets on Out house remodel for the wife. Cabinets are metal from the 1950s and have 50 years of coats of paint to strip. Kicking my butt it is. Just got the sandblaster I bought in the mail today. Gotta buy the blasting media tomorrow and see if my plan works on that project also.

Happy Trails, Rok

edit:

Code: Select all

    File: libflashplayer.so
    Version:
    Shockwave Flash 10.2 r152

    File: xineplugin.so
    Version:
    Xine Plugin version 1.0.2, (c) The Xine Project.
Is what Seamonkey and Firefox picks up besides the others mentioned. Weird. Huh. :?:

I am at a loss here for I made the pet installed it and the flash worked for me no problems so not sure what gives. As for the painobar auto login all I did was place in /root/.config/painobar/config and put in my user name and password and all work like a charm. Now you have me stumped.

cool. :) When I get time this weekend. I will delve into this further. No worries.

Busy day today.

Edit: I bet the problem may have to do because of the way I am running MyWollfe on Pendrive maybe . Like a Live cd with a save file instead of a conventional frugal or full install. Makes a kinda convoluted sense to me any hows.

Doh, Can't find the any key

#104 Post by rokytnji »

I will delve into this further
Well that did not go well. I corrupted my pupsave. Lucky for me I had a backup. The way I borked it was I booted this drive on my IBM M57 Desktop so I would have the bigger Screen to see what I was doing. Thing was I did not pick the puppy pfix=ram option so my save loaded.

I played around with the opera pet like I did with the other Operas and when I went to shut down. The save kicked in and I panicked (stupid me) and cntrl+alt+del to shut down. :oops:

Already fixed, but boy was that stupid of me. Must be tired. So any frugal install users out there. Back that baby up if trying to modify your install.

Going to leave this install as is GrumpyWolfe. I have no need to auto start pianobar or run Opera in this Pendrive. If this was a hard drive install (which may happen Later on another computer) via a cd install. I will try all this out again on a conventional install. Pendrives can be persnickety at times and this one runs good the way I have it setup. I got most of what I want working (except for tap on Acer Aspire One ZG5, No biggy though) like pianobar and 2 browsers with flash aand java going with email in Seamonkey and Pup-Shots Screenshooter and Sylpheed as external email client.

Hope to see other user feedback on what we have discussed in mywolfe. Hopefully positive feedback.

Edit: I always have something extra to say. Frisbee has been working excellent but I have installed xpupsay-1.2.1-i486.pet to make things easier in Frisbee also. http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=64472

I downloaded mywolf 028 to see how it runs with my hardware, as with most puppy's it has a problem with my rt2870/rt3070sta usb wireless dongle, to fix this I added rt3070.bin to /lib/firmware, this gets it working, it's not a perfect fix as the network tray icon flashes and the received total increments by 1k every couple of seconds, there don't seem to be any downloading actually happening though, this may cause a problem if you rely on the monthly amount downloaded as it will be way out and unusable

Geoffrey thanks for your advice in this matter but I do not have BarryK's xxx patch in MyWolfe was not sure if it was yet ready so did not put it in. Was mostly afraid it was tied to much to the older kernel and there would of beee more problems that not to put it in. Will have to look more into the usb wireless dongle setup and see what is best. Have been testing Frisbee to see if there is more stability in the wireless part may see if it helps in the usb wireless dongle area. If you want to test it

GrumpyWolfe, I have tried Frisbee, it works fine since I added the rt3070.bin accept for that annoying constant flashing problem I have, I had the same problem in fluppy also, I've tried building a new driver but can't seem to get it to compile, then I'm not that experienced when it comes to compiling, but I'm sure that someone will get it done sooner or later, in the mean time I can work my way around it, oh by the way, nice distro, I'm a NOP fan so it's familiar.

I've been play around with some of the setting and tried the .gtkrc-2.0 file that I modified in NOP, this will give transparent background for the desktop icon text, I think it looks nicer.

.gtkrc-2.0 code

Code: Select all

# dummy panel gtk settings to allow color setting in gtkrc files

style "panel"
{
	font_name		= "DejaVu Sans 11"
}
widget_class "*Panel*" style "panel"

# this is the new part for transparent icon text box

style "xfdesktop-icon-view" {
XfdesktopIconView::label-alpha = 0
}
widget_class "*XfdesktopIconView*" style "xfdesktop-icon-view"

style "sbstyle"
{
}
widget_class "*Scrollbar*"         style "sbstyle"
class "*Scrollbar*"                style "sbstyle"
widget_class "*GtkScale*"          style "sbstyle"
class "*GtkScale*"                 style "sbstyle"
widget_class "*GtkProgress*"       style "sbstyle"
class "*GtkProgress*"              style "sbstyle"

style "menubar"
{
}
class "*MenuBar*"	style "menubar"
widget_class "*MenuBar.*" style "menubar"

style "theme-menu"
{
}
class "GtkMenu"	style "theme-menu"

style "menu-item"
{
}
widget_class "*MenuItem.*"	style "menu-item"
class "GtkMenuItem"		style "menu-item"
