I don't have Wary 5.0 to test but bleachbit-1.0.pet does work in Wary 5.5 using Python-2.7.2-i486.pet from the Carolina repo.

Sorry no I don't, the versions I build use Python 2.7, if fatdog has a Python 2.7 version it could possibly work, else you will need the devx and python installed and build it yourself, here's how I built it.

Thanks Geoffrey,
I will first try your pet with 32bit -lib .sfs loaded.
Then will try to build and report back.
Thanks for your help.

Just a warning for anybody running Bleachbit on a later Precise with Vicmz's Openbox/Lxpanel installed... it can break your system. Happened to me numerous times, about a third of the time after using it (hooray for backups!) - IIRC, seems to delete some Lxpanel .config files, and on next boot there's no menu and the system is locked into a high CPU loop, apparently trying to load the missing menu data (?).

Odd in that it doesn't happen all of the time, and when successful can be an excellent tool to clean things up before remastering. But first test the results thru a few boots, at least!!

Bleachbit

#58 Post by mgolden »

I'm a Linux virgin so please be gentle.
This past week I installed the latest Slacko Puppy, version 5.7 on an older laptop. As far as the system goes, everything appears to work fine.
After installing what appears to be the latest BleachBit from this thread nothing happens when I try running the program.
Clicking on "Menu / Setup / Check dependencies installed pkg" I select "bleachbit-1.2-i486 DESCRIPTION: Free space and maintain privacy" which gives me "No missing shared libraries".
Does Linux have an equivalent Application Event Viewer that might shed some light on the problem?

UPDATE: Installing devx.sfs fixed the problem. BleachBit works flawlessly now. :D

Bleachbit 1.4

#61 Post by mgolden »

For those Linux newbies like myself, here is what you need to get Bleachbit 1.4 working on a fresh install of Puppy Linux 5.7:

bleachbit-1.4-i486
bleachbit_NLS-1.4-i486

The National Language Support (NLS) file is only needed for language support other than English.

devx_slacko_5.7.sfs

Which is no longer available from the Sfs Manager but is available at
http://ftp.nluug.nl/ftp/pub/os/Linux/di ... lacko-5.7/

And from the Puppy Package Manager:

pygtk-2.24.0

Which you should allow to also install:

pycairo-1.8.10
pygobject-2.28.6

Hopefully this will help someone get Bleachbit up and running.
