XS Sound editor: opens with strange behavior

with 1.0.3 - when I open the XS Sound editor it automatically opens an open file dialogue window
anyone else get this - do not remember this in 1.0.1 but it seems to have been present in 1.0.2 (it is possible I have a strange hybrid setup)
I have been going through the tcl to see what is going on - managed to changed from WAV to AU default but not much else . . .
