Do you still have the 722c printer driver installed? It came from here.

Maybe this old printer has finally died.

This could very well be the case. The darned thing has been difficult to use in Linux and I can never tell what the problem is when it doesn't print. Probably me as much as the printer -- CUPS completely looses me. The DeskJet 722C worked good in Windows, but doesn't seem to be very good in Linux.

What is the best easiest printer for Puppy?

I don't print that much so I don't need terribly fast, just a good steady printer. I print an occasional form, list, memo or .pdf. Probably will be hooked up to a parallel port.

I don't use a printer but I have before. I noticed that the ink of inkjet printers drys up but the toner of laser printers doesn't. If you don't print very often or very much, I'd say buy a laser printer.

You haven't shopped for computer equipment lately, have you?

I am partial to the small Brother laser printers.

I second that. I bought a Brother laser printer on Black Friday at half price. Setup was a breeze in multiple OS's using a USB cable and CUPS. The Brother replaced a cheap HP 3845 inkjet that also worked perfectly in Linux.

My first home printer around 1983 was a Radio Shack model using 3" wide aluminumized paper that burned a 5x7 dot matrix font. Printers for home use have come a long way since then. My 1979 computer (with 16Kb) had no ports other than one for a tape drive so I assembled my own RS232 serial port from a kit with sloppy soldering. My printer had to share that port with my 300 baud acoustic modem.

You are "spot on" I haven't shopped for or purchased any computer equipment in a long time.

Because I am in Thailand and a long way from sources of equipment together with language difficulties, unlisted prices, and a two tier pricing system, ie, thai-caucasian. I need a little more hand holding, please.

Brother lazer printers have been recommended could you please give me some model numbers? Even on the net I'm lost.

In advance -- Thank you very much.

Brother has a list of all their models that have Linux drivers here..

I really cannot recommend a model for you. It depends on what's available in your area and in what price range.
