How to scan with my HP Deskjet 1050 All-In-One J410 series?

#1 Post by sszindian »

Just upgraded to the HP Deskjet 1050 All-In-One J410 series printer.

Purchased from Walmart Online Store for US $34.00 a heck of a buy for an all-in-one printer.

Using both Puppy 520 and Incidious002 Puppy, the printer prints excellent with after installing- hpijs-3.10.6-dynppd (I do believe the nicest print job I ever had.)

However, the package (hplip-3.9.12-scan) from the PPM doesn't seem to do the trick with the scanner part and it just doesn't work using xsane in 520 or the simple scanner package in Incidious002.

Appreciate any help!

Give this updated scanner package a test.

Thanks rcrsn51 for the .pet

I installed it however, it still won't scan but... it seems to recognize that there is at least a scanner present!

With Puppy520 & xsane, it says- "Unable to scan, device busy."

With Incidious Puppy Simple Scanner, "It shows trying to scan but then says, device not present."

I did not get these messages with- hplip-3.9.12-scan

While inspecting the Window$ and Mac (combination disk) that came with the scanner,it appears the scanner is looking for a- hpijs-3.10.6.15 driver, but searching, I couldn't find one already in .pet format anywhere!

Apparently, there is a bug in the 3.10.x series with the Deskjet 1050/2050. It is supposed to be fixed in 3.11.1

rcrsn51 Many thanks.....

The hplip-3.11.1-scan.pet "works perfect!"

Both in Puppy520 using xsane, and in Incidious002 using the Simple Scanner.

Again "Thanks Much!" I'm sure many who buy this cheap little 1050 printer will be thanking you down the line....

By the way... Puppy has the Greatest Bunch of forum helpers of any distro. I've been 100% with Puppy for almost a year now using it as my ONLY operating system.

Excellent. In Lupu 520, you may want to try Peasyscan instead of Xsane.
