There's MepisLite, but it's just a lighter version of Mepis done by the same person/people/company (unlike UbuntuLite which is unrelated to Ubuntu).
MepisLite is NOT free, but the beta versions are, so you can try and catch one when they've got a new release coming. I did that, didn't help me much. I didn't like Mepis when trying it.

I suppose that's the measure of distros. I like MEPIS and so do a lot of folk, but then I am a Linux simpleton. MEPIS is rather straightforward vis-a-vis installing and upgrading; this is the very first essential to newcomers. I fear Warren has the wrong approach to commercialising, however, and that could kill it.
