Off the top of my head, 1.09 had the 2.4.27 kernel.....pretty sure all earlier releases had 2.4 as well.

Release schedule was every 6 weeks(The release schedule was pretty frequent back then.)
I think GuestToo also came up with the "pet" idea but he doesn't frequent the Forum any more.
