Currently using your vlc-gtk2.3 with, xdotool and vlc-0.8.6h-commandline.pet (2.44mb, by ttuuxxx)
In Puppy 214XTOP7
Plays ISO files from a NTFS partion as I wanted
Could not find any controls to adjust video brightness, contrast, gamma etc, these were under extended settings in other vlcs I have been accustomed to
Thanks for your work
vlc-gtk2.3
I'd suggest posting this to the vlc-gtk thread.
It may not have brightness controls etc. Is it not supposed to be a lightweight gui which doesn't implement every possible configuration option?

Do you know a good gtkdialog program? Please post a link here

VLC-GTK relies apon the options available in VLC, when loading VLC through the command line.
The CLI versions of VLC that have been built for Puppy do not have options to adjust the gamma, brightness, etc - therefor VLC-GTK does not, either. Sorry!
But as disciple said, it's a lightweight solution, not a fully featured multimedia player. There is a VLC package that uses the wxWidgets/wxGTK frontend - this does have those options, and its 'only' 8mb.
Other VLC packages can be download here: http://ppm.scottjarvis.com/?dir=./multimedia/video/vlc
