I like puppy very much and I am using it in a pilot program in my native country , only problem 90% of the students understand only spanish and Iwould like to translate the menues in the Window manager to Spanish .
I have done the same with DSLinux . so I guess my question is where do I find the menu that houses the messages that the menu displays so I can take a crack at it and try to translate it .
thanks for your help in advance

The config file for Fvwm95 is:
/root/.fvwm95rc

For JWM:

Be sure to backup those files somewhere, as they get overwritten when you upgrade Puppy to the next version!
-- unless you use Unleashed to put your own files into the live-CD.

Hey Dough,

Let me know if you need help translating to Spanish. It seems that your cause is worthy.

How is the hardware collection shipment going?

Tal vez podemos no solo traducir los menus, sino tambien usar las traducciones de las applicaciones mas comunes.

(translation: We may translate not only the menus, but also the monst common applications.)

You mean like an agency? Or like people that would go and help with the installation?

In either case, I don't know anyone. Lo siento.

P.S.
Do you know how to use DSL extentions wit Puppy I tried the Gcompris one and unpakked it using tar , it placed the executables in a folder but it does not launch the application . Any ideas?.

Doug, you might get more response to your question about using DSL apps in Pupy if you start a new thread with that subject line. Wink

Were you successful in translating the files into Spanish and having Puppy work in Español? If so, can you email me the file that you translated so that I can see what parts need to be translated into the second language?

If I do translate Puppy into another language, will it loose that file with each reboot?

the file i translated was The config file for Fvwm95 is:
/root/.fvwm95rc .
you have to pick and choose the mesages you want changed and once you save them provided you have a hard drive install you wont loose the file
this is only a translation of the mesages in the screen when you click icons or menues

Good idea!

I can translate it into Brazilian Portuguese Smile

It would be nice if these translations were included in the future releases of Puppy.
