Blender-2.63.sfs (47M, Apr 28, 2012, c0723023f7c43616cb9655444769427a)

Files are in its own /opt/blender263/ directory. If you want to create shortcuts - link to /opt/blender263/blender or /opt/blender263/blender-softwaregl. The latter will start the program without hardware OpenGL support.

Wary Puppy users will need base SDL library from here.

Did you try the non-wget way?

Please tell me that you did, even if it isn't true.

If you're trying to start it on a machine listed in your signature, then you can try installing the Xorg_High-1.1-Lucid.pet from Barry's repository (either from distro.ibiblio.org or from the System section of Puppy Package Manager). I think that should work, or you can try the new updated version.

Cycles rendering engine is now part of the official version (2.61 - 1st post). You can test your CPU as always, if you don't wanna fiddle with Mesa drivers.

I have installed SDL-1.2.14-w5c.pet then try to run blender-2.63.sfs on racy 5.3, but got following error:

Code: Select all

# /opt/blender263/blender-softwaregl
/opt/blender263/blender: symbol lookup error: /opt/blender263/blender: undefined symbol: _ZGVZN5dirac17VHFilterLEGALL5_310HorizSynthEiiiiRNS_10CoeffArrayEE7predict
# /opt/blender263/blender
/opt/blender263/blender: symbol lookup error: /opt/blender263/blender: undefined symbol: _ZGVZN5dirac17VHFilterLEGALL5_310HorizSynthEiiiiRNS_10CoeffArrayEE7predict
Googling it, it is said to be related on ffmpeg. Should I upgrade the ffmpeg or what, and how?

2.64

Guys, sorry for the delay, I've been avoiding the heat-wave in this part of Europe...
2.64 was released two days ago. I cannot test it at the moment because my new "work" machine is an Android tablet. I gave away both of my desktop-heaters that were used for testing Puppy.

Please check out the official binaries from blender.org first.
If everything works fine it will save you a lot of compiling time.
Someone should start a new thread, or post new versions here if you want...
