XKB - Keyboard Advanced Configuration Manager

#1 Post by Argolance »

This GUI lets you control the "Keyboard0" part of the xorg.conf file + display current layout into the task bar (fbxkb 0.6 - X11 Keyboard Icon switcher) + Enable/disable Keypad at startup (Keypad) + Localizations (French, English) and graphics. This manager is only relevant for Xorg users and let you configure your keyboard to fit your needs:
  • - select your keyboard model and modify the layout - Enable/disable Keypad at startup (Main Tab)

    - further tweak the layout and keys behaviors (Options Tab)

    - save modifications in the Xorg configuration file.

    - set and configure the task bar icon(s) (Preferences Tab)
To get a desktop shortcut, simply drag and drop the /usr/local/apps/XkbConfigurationManager directory on it.

(Thanks to don570)

Hi Argolance !

Thanks for the program and the work on it . One major problem , though :

As soon , as I want to toggle the keyboard layout with the right Win Key I get :

/mnt/+mnt+sda3+dpup001+dpupsave-001.3fs/usr/bin/fbxkb

** ERROR **: file fbxkb.c: line 407 (read_kbd_description): assertion failed: ((count >= 0) && (count < ngroups))
aborting...
Aborted

xorg.conf :

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Keyboard0"
Driver "kbd"
Option "XkbRules" "xorg"
Option "XkbModel" "pc102"
Option "XkbLayout" "us,de,gb" #xkeymap0
Option "XkbOptions" "lv3:ralt_switch,grp:rwin_toggle"
EndSection

It is a problem inside the code of fbxkb , not yours .

Salut

Hello,
Thank you for feedback!
This has been already noticed and mentioned on => the French topic about fbxkb... This may happen with Puppy Lucid releases (not all!) or Puplets based on, not with Puppy 4 (and previous), Quirky and Wary.
It is a problem inside the code of fbxkb , not yours.
Yes indeed!

Regards.

Hello,
The keyboard layout you wish as default has to be defined first as replacement of the current and not added to the current (it should then appear at the first line of the current defined layouts list). You can change the layout just while clicking on the taskbar flag icon (4 max).

Cordialement.
