cant' adjust headphone or speaker volume Subject description: alsa volume controls won't work |
|
got no sound out of my realtec chip on intel board.
On other Linux distro's i have to control volume with the headphone or speaker controls.
Using macpup 5.2 alsa mixer shows the the headphone and speaker volume at zero, but when I try to adjust them, they won't move. Neither the slider of by entering a numerical value.
any help on getting these volumes changed?

Mine is version .22. but it may not matter.
The headphone, speaker and line out values in the boxes are at 00, not MM, and there is no little <> symbol above the label

You need to use the left or right arrow keys to select what levels you want to adjust and then use the up or down arrow keys to change levels.
You can also add the systray module to the bottom shelf that will give you the regular puppy volume controll.

yes well that is the problem. I tried that already. using the left/right keys will highlight the desired control, but the volume will not move from 0 using the up/down key or by entering a numerical value.

Open the alsa mixer again and press f6 to make sure it is using your sound card. If it still dosen't work run teh alsa setup wizard. You should probably do a md5sum check on yout .iso download to make sure it's good.
