Solidpup511-B Lite beta-2.5 has now been uploaded.

It contains bug fixes and some updated apps.

For compiling, in this version, you will need to install the DEVX_ADDON pet,
as well as loading the wary_devx_511.sfs

The final release will have it's own devx, and you won't need a DEVX_ADDON pet for it.

Thx Tman. Will try this soon. I've just been trying to add SeaMonkey to the previous version and found that the PPM links for SM 2.0.7 and SM 2.0.11 were dead. Didn't try the others -went for FF instead.

Very much liking these recent versions. Sleek.

I don't use the PPM to install apps ... I just go straight to the repositories and download them .. that way I get to save the copy on my hard-drive and not have to download it again.

For Seamonkey, try "Get Internet Apps" in the Internet menu.
If it takes unbearably long on a fast connection, cancel and try again.
(It just happened to me and that's what I did). I am posting from Seamonkey 2.12.1 (But I still favour Firefox)
It downloads and installs the latest en-us version of Seamonkey from the official site.

For a lite alternative to Dillo, there's also links2 (grapical) web browser

I will make a better startup page for links2 at a later time.

Thx. Just looking at the screenshot in your last post - I see the "2.5" in the bottom left corner. Is that a replacement for the "puppy face" shortcut that you had at top left on the B2 release?

I was going to ask you how hard it might be to put a "desktop" shortcut at bottom left - If I have multiple windows open I find it a bit slow to have to minimise every window before I can see the wbar.

Yes the 2.5 is there so that I don't get confused of what version I'm in.
The Final will probably say "menu" or just have some symbol.

I will see what I can do for the show desktop... I am not sure if tint2 has that feature, or if the command is separate from the panel. But if I can find it, I can put an icon to the right of the tint2 panel.

Nice! Can I get your .configure options for it? I want to try compiling the latest SVN release.

Nothing fancy in the configure options that I remember, think it was just --prefix=/usr

Here's a link to download the pet:

Thanks, Billtoo.

I'll upload Mplayer later ... about to head off to work now.

EDIT: it's now been uploaded, I just changed the ending to "w5" instead of "i686".

Okay I found the Openbox shortcut keys for ToggleShowDesktop is:

Windows Key+d

I will incorporate this function into the tint2 Taskbar in the next release.

I quite like the puppy face you used in B2 (along with the "2.5" aswell maybe...) rather than the word "menu". Just my personal pref.

The only problem with that is, if I use the puppy face, I cannot get it to line up with the tint2 taskbar on the bottom...otherwise, I would use it.
I can set up 2 different .desktop files for the same function if you like... one
with the logo and one without. Then you can drag whichever one you prefer to the desktop.

Attached is the pet that will add the ToggleShowDesktop function to the tint2 panel.

I think just go with whichever one you find is best - no point going to the trouble of extra .files
(Although the menu/puppyface icon does not necessarily need to go next to the taskbar - it's just as easy to rightclick the little piece of desktop that is visible there... I just thought the puppyface looked quite good at top left)

Thanks for the .pet.

I agree. I just put that icon there for those who are used to left-clicking for the menu. When I first used tint2, I felt right-clicking was awkward, but now I am very used to it.

Solidpup 511-B Lite beta-2.6 has just been uploaded.

Left-click on the tint2 clock to toggle ShowDesktop, right-click on the tint2 clock to adjust clock settings.

This version looks pretty much the same as beta 2.5 but it contains updated backend libraries, mainly audio-video codecs but others as well. A link to the full list of changes is on the first post.

These upgrades increased the size of the iso, so to compensate, I had to remove deadbeef, tuiliana desktop icon theme, and 1 mouse cursor theme. I will reintegrate them in the full-version. Mplayer is the default audio player now.

I have also compiled ffmpeg_hwa pet. It has x11grab and hardware acceleration (hwa) enabled. It will work out of the box for version beta-2.6. Older versions will need dependency pets to be installed before it will work.

ffmpeg_hwa can be found at: http://www.smokey01.com/Tman/apps/Wary5 ... ultimedia/

To test x11grab, install the pet, then in type the following in the terminal: sh record_av
This command will only work in this current release or higher.

EDIT: thanks to Pemasu for the tips on compiling ffmpeg.

My next task is to recompile MPlayer_gui to work with the new ffmpeg ... so far I can only get it to compile without the gui :(.
If all else fails, I can try a different front-end like smplayer, or Gnome-Mplayer.

Hi Tman

SolidPup, version 511 on Mon 1 Oct 2012

Chip description:
2.0 VGA compatible controller
Intel Corporation 82852/855GM Integrated Graphics Device (rev 02)
oem: Intel(r)852MG/852MGE/855MG/855MGE Graphics Chip Accelerated VGA BIOS
product: Intel(r)852MG/852MGE/855MG/855MGE Graphics Controller Hardware Version 0.0

X Server: Xorg
Driver used: intel

X.Org version: 1.3.0
dimensions: 1024x768 pixels (270x203 millimeters)
depth of root window: 24 planes

Very nicely done Puppy - if fact outstanding all round. Excellent attention to detail.
Running extremely well on my 10yr old Acer laptop. Manual frugal to sda - no save_file.

Touchpad a tad sensitive, twiddled and improved, however a bit more twiddling may be reqd.
Thanks for making an already superb SolidPup even better.

Very best regards - Ray

Solidpup511-B beta-2.7 has now been uploaded.

This includes the replacement of the old ffmpeg with version 0.11.2
MPlayer_gui is updated to the latest release from svn.

xsoldier is has been removed to save space.

I also modified the record_av script and added a menu item for it in the multimedia menu,
named ffmpeg-x11grab.

zenn should be pleased that MPlayer is more compatible with .mkv files.
Becuase the old ffmpeg is out, this breaks ttuuxxx's VLC pet.

EDIT: But that VLC is also less compatible with .mkv files, (some mkv formats will play). If you want to use that VLC, then you need to reinstall the old ffmpeg pet.
Needed multimedia files are at:
http://www.smokey01.com/Tman/apps/Wary5 ... ULTIMEDIA/

As usual, the download link for the new Solidpup is in the first post of this thread.
