Thanks again dejan for all your efforts with dpup - and thank Billtoo for your handy contributions in the pets department. I think it's a 'keeper'.
Like cthisbear I also had wireless hassles, but with a little different behaviour. I've got a frugal-install of your dpup on a Lenovo T60, T7200 Intel dual-core at 2GHz, 2GB RAM. It's got an Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG MiniPCI card, and has been fine with XP, Puppy4 and Puppy5 distros run on it (e.g., MacPup511, Lucid 510, 520 and 525) to a wpa-encrypted 3G router. I've worked out another solution to the problem I was having - only getting a successful connection with the older network wizard, save the profile etc. but on reboot those settings seemed to have been over-written or ignored by the default etho/wlan search startup as a "IP address failed at wlan0". Had to start all over with the older network wizard, each boot up.
This hasn't happened to me before, but after PWireless2's Automatic roam/Refresh scan showed the router ports available I wrote down the BSSID, went to 'Profiles' and had to manually re-key in the BSSID and the (WPA) Key and saved the profile - no more problems with bootup (although it tries to also connect with the unused eth0, but that's just background noise). I think in the past when I've used Pwireless, the BSSID is automatically carried over between the settings tabs.

On another matter I've had to bite the bullet and try to run software under Wine 'cos the Linux version seems incompatible somewheres with Puppy's organisation of java directories. I loaded up wine-1.1.43-lucid - will that be problematic in 485, do you think?
Thanks,
Puppyt

Billtoo thanks for pets, didn't have time to try them yesterday.
Puppyt, 485 might be using older version of Pwireless, maybe latest version does that automatically.
Whoever has wireless connectivity please try latest Pwireless or Frisbee and see if it solves problem.
Haven't tried wine, don't know about that.

Just started a fresh Woof build of a dpup, with 5.2.5's package selection. I want to fix it one package at a time, till I get a working, plain dpup.

That's the way my Squeeze work started, but this time I know more about the internals of a distro so I think it could be a nicer pet project :)

Here's lxterminal,a tabbed terminal emulator with transparent background and various font styles and sizes.
It needs vte installed and to change the font etc. look in the edit>preferences part of the lxterminal menu.

Compiled and tested in Dpup 485

" did you try the mentioned frisbee tool? "

Frisbee and Pwireles 2 do not work in your Dpup.

Chris.

Oh, then I guess I'll have to take jemimah's latest sources and try to compile in dpup. Maybe find a wireless spot where I can test.

downloaded /fluxbox.git-i686-dpup485.gz renamed to .pet. click installed and did xwin startflubox at prompt. desktop appears that looks exactly as it did before.
go into opera uchess.com but connection doesn't happen.in full screen i cant click the ok button to close the dialog box which i can do in non-full screen. now only have gprs connection before had 3g so i think that is affecting the connection ie. not enough speed for flashplayer.
but i think it is a fail because i cant click the dialog box closed in full-screen.
was also thinking it may have something to do with the other flash necessary files which i didn't copy or overwrite. havent tested that though.
my favorite window manager is flwm which is a choice in puppeee

edit see next post where i learn how to spell fluxbox

ok scratch that previous post but now i started with
xwin startfluxbox
and there are differences in the desktop and i can close the dialog box with the ok click in fullscreen.
could be a win for fluxbox.
still cant play chess though due to unable to connect on my now slow gprs connection.

Man, I love these output plugins on Audacious, I've been playing with Crystalizer / Echo and Extra stereo... makes sounds on my crappy desktop speakers significantly improved. If I make another dpup version or some customized puplet Audacious will replace bmp for sure.
