D-Bus, what else ?

#1 Post by Jejy69 »

Hello !

I would like that you bring your light on this subject, Dbus ...
The Dbus Puppy is it special? Different from other Linux distributions?
After installing Gnome, its utilities work but do not work.
Let me explain:
The GUI application responds, some tools work but others do not.
In the console, I still get the same error, or others who are similar.
Exemple, i get
Would change the language to 'es_ES.utf8', but no D-Bus connection available
or always
Failed to execute program /usr/libexec/dbus-daemon-launch-helper: Success
Dbus is normally already installed on Puppy?
So why? Should I recompile gnome applications, taking into account a special Puppy's Dbus ?

I do not know if you understand, I myself find it difficult to understand.

Thank you!

Compiling Dbus and Hal are pain in the ass . They are hardware daemons but need gtk and gtk-glib libraries  :x .

Thank you for your answers, I think I'll drop the gnome applications systems. I'll use the pet package from B.K blog.

Yeah... Really too hard. I am not competent for that ...
I do not know if you know, but I saw a fork of Dbus I think. I must find the link ...
