Linux bundle available for Banshee 2.1.0

#1 Post by CRF »

I've downloaded and followed the instructions. Seems to work in Lucid 5.25...I have not tested thoroughly.

I'm wondering since this download almost resembles an .SFS file in the way that it works...all the dependencies are included..is there a way to full install and integrate into Puppy?

From the Banshee forum:

Hi everyone

Just a quick word to tell you that the Linux bundle for Banshee 2.1.0
is now available.

For 32bit systems (45MB) :
http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/binaries ... 86.run.tbz

For 64bit systems (47MB) :
http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/binaries ... 64.run.tbz

Just download it, uncompress it (with "tar xjf ..." or your favorite
archive manager), and run it !

Please test them on all Linux PCs you can find, and report any issues
on our bugtracker :
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=banshee

For more details on how those bundle are created and how they work,
check out those past blog posts :

I'll check it out. Thanks.

Yes, I can package it--as soon as I have recovered from making the Clementine/Amarok pet ;-) http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=68537

Here is a Banshee 2.1.0 pet. A few icons are missing--I don't know why. The pet is 53MB.

That's the latest of both Clementine and Banshee.

I saw this is in learning about Banshee. It is the chosen default music player for Ubuntu 11.04. *Except* Ubuntu hacked the code to take 75% of the compensation Banshee was getting from the Amazon Music Store, and which Bansee was donating to Gnome. It is only several thousand dollars per year--Ubuntu looks pretty tacky to me.

The latest story I see says that Banshee shipped in 11.04 with the Amazon feature disabled. Evidently Ubuntu was trying to protect their own Ubuntu One music store--they still look tacky to me--what's best for the users--do they ask that?
