1.0.3: laptop reboots when shut down; can't burn bootable CD

There's a couple of thngs that don't seem to work so well for me in 1.0.3 as they did in 1.0.2

On shut down my laptop reboots. (Yes, I know I can just switch of the power.)

and I can't seem to burn iso images like I did in 1.0.2
It looks like they are burning ok but Puppy won't boot up off them.

I could just use 1.0.2 but my sound card works under 1.0.3...or is there a way to make the sound card settings the same as 1.0.3 in 1.0.2 ?
