Puppy won't associate with my wireless access point

#1 Post by dcreeves2000 »

I'm having trouble connecting to my wireless router in Puppy 5.2.8.

I'm using a TEW424UB v2, with ndiswrapper, which gives me a working wlan0 that scans properly and finds my access point. However, either using the wizards or even manually, I can't get Puppy to retain the essid, even setting it manually with iwconfig wlan0 essid "MyIAPname". Subsequent iwconfig shows "Essid: Not-Associated", even though the other settings, including my WEP key, are retained. Any ideas why? I'm pretty sure I used this exact dongle with a much earlier Puppy distro (v2.4ish I think) and it worked fine.

Thanks

SOLVED

Well I fixed it - I was using the Windows drivers from the CD, which are the only ones that work for this dongle in Ubuntu 8 onwards. I tried an updated set of drivers for the sis163u chip (R105) and that worked first time in Puppy 5.2.8.

Happy Puppying!
