Apparently Chrome/ium users are too stupid to have the right to choose (http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issue ... l?id=74594).
And although they claim that you can run as root simply by using the --user-data-dir= option, this is not true!
However, thankfully you don't have to patch chromium and compile from source to run as root - all it takes is a simple edit to the binary as described at http://ksiiitm.blogspot.com/2011/05/run ... owser.html
I used wxHexEditor, but I imagine there is a lightweight scriptable program somewhere that you could use to automatically do the edit every time you get a new version of the browser.
