However, thankfully you don't have to patch chromium and compile from source to run as root - all it takes is a simple edit to the binary as described at http://ksiiitm.blogspot.com/2011/05/running-chromium-browser.html
I used wxHexEditor, but I imagine there is a lightweight scriptable program somewhere that you could use to automatically do the edit every time you get a new version of the browser. _________________ If you have or know of a good gtkdialog application, please post a link here
Frakkin' Awesome! I haven't tried this approach, but it sounds like it would work. Will test soon- right now i have to do so many stupid things to get Chrome running as spot while insulating a user from that fact.
