Prit And I are proud to announce the release of Macpup 528,our newest
e17 Macpup.
Macpup is a small, light OS. The .Iso is only 164 MB.
It runs in ram and is very fast. It is not a striped down,
bare bones, basic core OS. Macpup is a full featured system
right out of the box with apps for office, graphics, multimedia, internet
and much more. And it looks really cool.
MP528 is based on Puppy Linux 5.2.8 ,"Lucid Puppy", An official woof
build of puppy Linux that is binary-compatible with Ubuntu Lucid Lynx
packages.MP528 contains all the apps from Lucid puppy with the addition of
Firefox 7.01 beta. Extra apps like Opera or Gimp are available for easy
download from the Quickpet App on the ibar or the Puppy Package Manager.
MP525 also includes the Enlightenment E17 window manager. The EFL libraries
version 1.0.999 and E17 version 62861 where compiled and installed
from source.
All included E17 themes are By Verdegal37 and where customized for
Macpup by CatDude and Runtt21.
Thank's to everyone that has help or supported the Macpup project:
Ttuuxxx, CatDude, Puppyluvr, Mu, Sneekylinux, Rasterman and all Of the
E17 crew, ZaZoOo, WhoDo, Omskates, Cgt_1991. Joel, Russoodle,
GrumpyWolfe,Maxpro4u, Rokytnji & 01miko.
Extra Thanks to Agust(Verdegal37), The best E17 Themer on the planet.
And Sakasa for the Default theme backgrounds .
Special Thanks to BarryK the creator of puppylinux. And PlayDaze the
developer of Lucid puppy, And everyone who help out with Lucid puppy!!
To keep your CPU cool and your fan quiet use the CPU Frequency Scaling
Tool . Menu-applications-system-CPU frequency Scaling Tool
The first time you run Macpup, The system will be running totally in RAM!
Click on Htop on the ibar to check working space left in RAM*. If less than 30MB,
do not run big apps like Firefox -- instead, shutdown Macpup and you will be
asked to create a save file, that will give you more space. You can put the
save file almost anywhere,Hard drive,USB Flash drive,Sd card.Etc...
I recommend 256 MB total system ram for Macpup. You can also check ram by adding
the systray module to the Ibar. Click on the Top Hat on the Ibar to adjust most
system settings. Access the settings panel to make adjustments to e17.
Menu-settings-settings panel or the settings icon on the right end of the Ibar.
Updates for Macpup 528 can be found at http://macpup.org/runtt21/ in the macpup 528 folder,
as well as extra modules and more themes. Please note that macpup is for PC's and
not intended for use on a real "Mac"
the default theme:
the extra theme:
Important note about themes, All of the mp525 themes should work in
mp528.
This version of Macpup will boot to desktop in almost all cases and
from that screen you can make adjustments if they are needed or
wanted. The desktop and clock should be correct. If it does not boot to
a graphical screen, it might boot to a “prompt.” If that happens
please enter ‘xorgwizard’ which will allow you to configure Macpup. If
it does not boot to a prompt but a black screen, then you should
reboot the CD and press f1 and enter ‘puppy pfix=nox’, in the space
that asks for any boot options. Then at the prompt enter ‘xorgwizard’.
If you connect to the internet by Ethernet As soon as the desktop
comes up you will be online please click on the top hat on the ibar
and run the firewall wizard.

To compile stuff in Macpup 528 you need to use the lupu_devx-528-3.sfs
http://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/puppy-5.2.8/lupu_devx_528-3.sfs
md5sum 443eeff3df2d55c6b57aeb9c9f473fef
To compile extra e17 stuff you will need the Macpup528-dev-01.pet
That is in the macpup528 folder on my macpup page.
http://macpup.org/runtt21/
Also in that folder is the Macpup528-extramods-01.pet . It has extra e17 modules:Alarm,calendar,deskshow,everything-wallpaper,everything-websearch,exebuf,execwatch,flame.forecasts
itask,language,mail,mem,moom,news,penguins,slideshow.snow & taskbar
Quickpet is up to date.
Change log : Lupu 528 to macpup 528
On the puppy side: Openbox, all openbox themes and config files,Fbpanel and config files and the dillo browser have been removed.Pupcontroll is also gone. All of the puppy backgrounds and extra icons sets have also been removed. The old puppy wm switcher app has been removed.A lot of the gtk themes have be removed and a few of the older e17 gtk themes are back in.
Firefox is directly from the mozilla site.
On the e17 side: EFM is disabled, the e17 exit menu,All of the illume modules and the composite module have been removed cause they don't work with puppy linux that well.
You may run into this little white box. If you do just press f1 and keep going....
Please hold off on using the lupu-instant-update.pet It has some things that macpup doesn't need.I will post a macpup version in a few days.
A special Thanks to Rokytnji who has joined the project to help test and has posted a ton of helpful stuff on our forum. Dude you Rock !!!!

Everyone needs to hold off on that audacity 1.3.12 lucid 525 pet. I have heard several complaints about it . Let me look into it.
Ragman places compiled from me But it didn't do anything. I have seen post in other distro's forums about it not working anymore.

Just booted from macpup 528, its quite a beauty! Nice that wvdial works
with nothing more than adding a config file with account details. Definitely will be put to serious use. Thankyou for all the effort put into this release.
Cheers
