As usual with forks of Micro or TinyCore they don't
comment much about the features of the fork instead
the comments are about other things.

not many seems to care about it? But DW at least accepted to link to it.

I tried to use this boot code which failed. Error says something
about path or name. So it needs some correct way to set it up.

kernel (hd0,0)/shell/kernel loglevel=3
initrd (hd0,0)/shell/rootfs.gz

It boot well on NTFS? but it end up in a prompt
so one has to know what to do to get something going.
I have no clue so I rebooted

Just tried Joli OS 1.2, full install on a partition of a fast 32gb ssd on my Asus EEE 900.

Could not believe how slow it was, everything from browsing to bringing up the control panel. Plus the layout is incomprehensible.

First Linux I've tried that was really bad. All others so far have had their positive sides, but I didn't find one here, other than the fact that I like the *premise* of Jolicloud.

I was disappointed that alinux would not boot for me. It took over 5 hrs to download it but the md5 appeared to be ok so I burned a rw dvd. There is a post in the comments section of distrowatch indicating that the dl links are dead and that there may be an issue with the dvd.

I read about Slax 7.0 and got curious and downloaded it
and made a frugal install and it booted fast and well.
Root and can do much of what Puppy do to but maybe
us a bit different due to K windows instead of JWM

flash already install in Firefox so it was easy to use it.

About 200MB

You could be right. I got a failed download when I tried to download alinux (which used to be called Peanut Linux), which was a bit annoying after I'd spent nearly 4 hours trying to download it. So I downloaded the pre-release version of Mint Debian instead, which was a lot quicker, and now that I've installed it it seems to work well.

I think that "165 MB" is a mistake. When I clicked on the link to download it I got "1.6 GB" inside the box, which I believe is much more likely.

Another good distro to report; now that CentOS 6.4 is out there's a new release of Stella, which is a CentOS respin and also numbered 6.4. I've just downloaded and installed it and it's up to the distro's usual high standards.

I can recommend it for anyone who wants a good stable distro which does all the necessary stuff and who doesn't mind its looking a bit "vanilla".

Great. It never occurred me to do that - I'll bet you didn't have to download as much to update 6.3 as the 1.2 GB the 6.4 iso took.

The Stella update was only about 350 mb. Laughing

Just did a manual frugal install of the latest Porteus 2.0. About 228 mb download.
