Firepup and the accursed title bar--SOLVED Subject description: unwanted stuff in title bar |
|
I'm having trouble finding info on FirePup. Sometimes I find the thread, and other times all I get is random listings from the forum.
I've really enjoyed firepup with one exception....virtually everything on every page seems to add a new entry in the main title bar. The only things that should be there are what I specifically type into the title bar. This has driven me to near madness, and is the only reason I can think of to trash this and replace it with firedog, which I don't want. I like having simplemail in there.
I've disabled every addon in firepup, rechecked my settings, and still can't figure out how to stop this. Does anyone know how to disable this perverted setting?
Thanks to anyone who can help....perhaps scottman can reveal the secret to this?

Found a solution!! Subject description: Ok, I've bumbled onto a solution |

Thanks folks, you can disregard my previous rant....er....post. I somehow bumbled onto a way to get what I want, although I ended up disabling, then later re-enabling every add-on there is here first. Seems my problem stems from a setting in Firedog itself, and not the addons. I believe it had something to do with remembering everything I entered in a search or title bar, but I could be mistaken. Your mileage may vary and all that....
Did I mention the fact that I seem to have bumbled onto this?
First you get old....then the real fun starts.....

You may have mixed the /root/.mozilla settings folders... You should manually delete that folder when installing a new/different firefox (firepup to firedog, for example)
You can disable auto complete, and choose what appears in the address bar when typing by going to Edit->Preferences or Tools->Options
There will be some options to choose what appears in the address bar when typing.
You can also type 'about:config' into the address bar and search for the setting 'browser.urlbar.autocomplete.enabled' and turn ir off..
Hope that helps.

Firepup address bar Subject description: too many things showing up in it |

Thanks for the tips, Sc0ttman. I'm not sure what I did exactly to fix it, but it works the way I want now. I rather prefer the standard firefox appearance regarding menus and such, but I definately prefer the Firepup''s ability to include Simplemail, which is uncompatible with later versions of firefox. Bummer. I'll keep using the older one now that I have it running the way I want. Thank you also, for making this available and keeping it for those of us that prefer the retro versions.
