new translation package 2.4

Bacon Recorder - simple audio recorder
Feb 18 2012 Italian and Portuguese translations added

Note to RSH - Thanks for translation. I won't be able to add it in
the package until middle of next week.

_____________________________________________________

I discovered that to show a foreign name for the file name
of the recording i.e. 'Aufnahme' for 'Recording' ,
a specific installation method is needed.

1) Change to your language, for example German.

2)Install Bacon Recorder pet package.
This trashes configuration.

3) Install bacon recorder language pack.

Now when you do your first recording the file name will be
Aufnahme blah blah blah or whatever the translation of
the word Recording is in your language.

Thanks Don!

By accident I started a new recording while the old one
where already running. Both seemed to survive. Not sure
what to make of that feature :)

Another thing I wanted to ask you. Maybe you have mentioned it already.

Is it easy to write some kind of schedule script
that start the first recording at 01.00AM and then record 60min then end it
then start a new one at 02.00AM and record 60min then end it
then start a new one at 03.00AM and record 60min then end it
then start a new one at 04.00AM and record 60min then end it
then start a new one at 05.00AM and record 60min then end it
then start a new one at 06.00AM and record 60min then end it
then start a new one at 07.00AM and record 60min then end it
then start a new one at 08.00AM and record 60min then end it
for to cover the whole night.

I also want that tht schedule script to chose low quality each time.
The name can be Recording time start for the recording.
new time stamp for each hour.

Thanks for the report.

If I have the time and the skill I should do
a more powerful version that has a proper interface for
multiple recordings.

...but it appears to work if people launch it multiple times.

I should test it more thoroughly

I've written an app that splits a mp3 file into 30 minute chunks,
so you can record a radio show overnite and in the
morning you can right click on file and split it into chunks.
It only takes a second to do, so it's very easy.

Just install this pet package called 'split-file'

Thanks I will try it out when I find the more sensitive mike. The headset seems
not good at all. Much appreciated you cared.

I came across a strange experience while running
bacon recorder.

The folder picker didn't work at all. This confused me
initially but it turned out there was nothing wrong with baconrecorder.

I discovered that /root was full and wouldn't store any
settings. Normally there is a warning that /root is full.

I've been testing two timed recordings, set one after another.

It works fine and is quite useful.

Thanks. So you can tell one to start at one time and then the next
at a later time. How close can the stop and start be? 1 minute?
or shorter. Does it fail if one say do this

start at 00.30AM stop at 2.00AM
Start at 2.00AM and stop at 03.30AM

I know I would know the answer if I just tested but in case you already know.

I have to test later I am very pressed to get the bike for summer going
I am such a lazy person so have to give priority and I still have not
found my many mikes and feel bad about buying a new expensive one
just because I am too lazy to search through everything for the missing good mike.
I fail to get why so few write in and tell about their experience of your prgram

To nooby:

I believe overlapping is fine. I've done it accidently several times
and the computer still records clearly.

What I do is ....

Set my radio to the station I like, then...

Start the recording immediately (by clicking the start immediately button)
or set a timed recording. The length is determined by entry box.

Then a few seconds latter I set a timed recording for latter in the night.
The length can be different from the previous recording.

The type of recording can be different as well (wav or mp3)

When I wake up in morning there is two messages of completion.
The log entries are rather confusing though

A lot of people type a record command into pschedule or crontab

I did that for years, but bacon recorder is now my favorite program.

Thanks for sharing your know how.
It is so embarrassing to admit.
I don't even know what you talk about here.
A lot of people type a record command into pschedule or crontab
Sure I do remember that I've seen the word pschedule
but I had no idea that it can record sound.

Crontab that word is first time I see it or hear about it.

Bacon Recorder at Spanish Wikka

Hi don570 :D
I'm writing the Spanish Puppy Linux Wiki. This is the page for Bacon Recorder, you can read at any time and tell if there's something you want to have changed. The attached image is meant to be used in the wiki page. I can also create the English version of the page.
