Audio

Sorry if this is the wrong forum to post this but....
I do not have audio output. I have a Gigabyte motherboard with an onboard standard ICH10 <SP?> audio chip. The output is through an optical cable.
Setup seems to recognize the chipset yet I do not have audio through my amp.
Sorry for being such a newb running Puppy but it's a learning process for me.
