Puppy525 not recognizing Broadcom ethernet in Dell Inspiron Subject description: No Interfaces Detected in New Model Dell
Puppy 525, 510,421 do not recognize the on-board Broadcom ethernet (wired) adapter in my new Dell Inspiron 570. Based on the Windows driver used by the Windows 7 OS installed by Dell, the adapter should use the latest series of drivers for Broadcom's Netlink 57XX adapters. This includes the tg3 driver for Linux. Puppy appears to have that driver already loaded, and I have also reloaded it with the network wizard; however, it just reports that "No new interfaces were detected". I have also tried the NDIS wrapper with several of the Windows drivers available from Broadcom with the same ultimate result. The NDIS wrapper using the 'k57win32' driver does report "k57win32: driver installed, device(14E4:1691) present", however it still finds "No new interfaces".
Any help is appreciated. I am at a bit of a loss as to what to try now other than getting and installing a PCI interface card to try.
