Just to say thanks you and OMG what an O/S and Watch Me Tube

#1 Post by Icyos »

Hi All

My first ever post on the forums and may I begin by saying a heart felt thanks to everyone who invented/developed this Puppy Linux system, I have never known anything like it in all my computing days.

I have been using it as a total newb now for about and 3 weeks and in that time I have come to love/appreciate just how good it is, I have a complete you tube site dedicated to Puppy Linux full of How to’s so I hope you all check it out and find what is on there and useful.

May I also ask if its OK for me to use the Puppy logo as my avatar on the site, I know I am already using it but manners cost nothing.

Finally many thanks again for a wonderful operating system which I hope the whole planet would use.

Link to my Youtube site is below.

Icyos,

Nice video's.

It is Barry Kauler who started developing puppy, but he is not alone anymore.
Other developers make derivatives and puppy's

Read the developer pages.
Time savers:
Find packages in a snap and install using Puppy Package Manager (Menu).

Glad you like Puppy... It means you agree with us lot on the forum, so that's a good start ;)

Great vids, did you make any of them in Puppy? If so...
Maybe post a guide in the HOW TO thread? That would be great :)

Icyos :

Good videos mate.

Glad you like Puppy....and it shows.

If I could put in a request, could you include a >> Fix Windows video.

""""""""""

Many people have heard about Puppy....
that it can recover files from a crashed Windows install etc.

I try an accommodate this with my help pages for Windows.
I could do it myself... but the rear end of a horse is a thing of beauty
compared to my voice over the net.

A video approach....solves scary moments 4 newbies.

It also spreads the word about Puppy and encourages people
to try it...just as you have because of sneeky's videos.

A basic copying of files in Rox....open 2 Windows and copy
one to the other etc....

different drives...how they are named SDA....SDB etc.

I have my fixes here

http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=58305

and a help sheet

http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... h&id=16661

Hiren's and the Falcon rescue cds are both great options
to repair Windows.

But Puppy can sometimes erase files locked by those utilities,
and vice versa.

/////

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free

Hitman Pro

Combofix

RKill

SUPERAntiSpyware Free

Kaspersky TDSS Killer

are great for cleaning if you can finally boot into Windows.

So could you please create such a video.

Regards....Chris.

Icyos:

It's right click - file - properties for file size.

Thanks for the gtk record desktop video.

I just started using Xvidcap a few days ago.

It only does proper audio-video synch with Puppy4.31 versions
for me.

Another option for file size is the du command.
du -h /path/to/my/file.avi
