CSVpad-1.2 packaged expressly for PuppyLinux

#1 Post by musher0 »

Hello, Puppyists.

I have stored a CSVpad-1.2_Linux32.pet at
https://my.pcloud.com/publink/show?code ... OKLYG1q2Vl

Edit, Febr. 5, 2017: This one is a pet archive and has a desktop file. So it
will appear in your menu after installation and recycling of the menu.

Basically, it's an offshoot of the more limited dmcsv. You can learn more about
CSVpad at: http://www.trustfm.net/software/utilities/CSVpad.php

Here's a screenshot:

Image

Along with the new version of the CLI tool csvfix presented at:
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 578#815862,
this new csv processor should enable you to perform any and all csv-related tasks on
your Puppy.

I repackaged the archive made available on the site for our usual PuppyLinux
hierarchy of folders, and reformatted the CSVpad doc file as PDF and rtf formats.
The html doc file is included. However, if you use it, please be aware that I was not able
to completely remove the Google Ad scripts.

Tested successfully on Slacko-6.0b. But I wouldn't think you'd have a problem using it
on a lesser-version Puppy, because CSVpad has its own libs embedded. In any case, let
us know your mileage. Thanks in advance.

The zip archive contains separate *.pet packages for the executable and for
the doc. In true Puppy tradition, you install the docs file only if you want to.

Finally, if nobody downloads the pack for a month, zippyshare will zap it. If that has
happened, please don't hesitate to ask me for a fresh copy. (The longer-storage
DataFileHost site was too busy tonight. Sorry...)

Happy flat-file databasing! :)

This is a hot little program. I'm still trying to figure out the best use for it, though. Perhaps keeping a list of items and using the far right, Google search button to search using the cell.

Thanks,

Slavvo67

Hi, Slavvo67.

"The far right..." Sounds political...
Oh, I see: "the far right, Google search button".

(Forgive the little joke!)

Hello again, Slavvo67.

If you need to use extra functions on your list, you could try working it with the new csvfix.
Please see http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... ost#815862

Thanks Musher:

This is definitely worth some exploration. A refreshing little program that clearly has some value.

Kind regards,

Slavvo67

P.S. - I don't take offense to jokes (at least usually). I think I may owe you an apology for some posts a few weeks back or so. I've been dealing with some personal issues that have made me a bit edgy. I've cut down on the caffeine (down to 6 cups of coffee a day.. lol). - Thanks again.

Hi, slavvo67.

Frankly, I had not noticed your own little joke towards me. No offense taken!

I certainly wish you a positive resolution of your problem.

I drink about 6 cups of coffee a day too!

And of course, Merry Holiday Period to you! :)

Brand new users are coming to Puppy !
Really Gnumeric plus dmcsv & csvfix plus osmo for nice looking with a picture is a trio for users as me. I don't need more. They are so easy to use, so light, really done for Puppy :D

Sort table as you like and save it choosing pipe as separator. Then load it in OSMO to get a file by file presentation... la boucle est bouclée, just ad a picture to OSMO file.

As Italian Puppy staff interested, i link this topic to their Facebook site.

Lack of interest about a puppies table by Gnumeric is painful.

@pelo

Suggestion: change your headers (first line) for each list so we know what is listed!

I'm actually tempted to bite you in the leg :) for misusing my avatar! :)
Oh, I see, you are just quoting me. But what is that trustfm, anyway?

Happy New Year!

Important : CSVpad opens only CSV files.

#11 Post by Pelo »

Export : exports the loaded CSV file into html / xml / Open Document Spreadsheet (ods) and Microsoft Excel 8.0 (xls . Notice that all the exports support Unicode. Important : CSVpad opens only CSV files.
The exported Open Document Spreadsheet (ods) can be opened from LibreOffice and OpenOffice.
The exported Microsoft Excel 8.0 xls file can be opened using LibreOffice / OpenOffice and Google Docs.
I do not use Microsoft Office so i do not know if the exported files can be opened correctly.

CSVpad opens only CSV files. çà c'est très dommage. Running Precise Puppy ASRI EDU 310 (5.7.1).

these little tools let you do what you need..

#13 Post by Pelo »

once again installed in Light Puppy NOP (Metro Puppy, an windows 8 look like by hungarians). Never i used a computer without managing tables. Even to manages movies or songs, these little tools let you do what you need... and as you need.
Only bemol is including pictures, really spreadsheets are not set for that.
But CSV pad is really Magic, sorting just by clicking on columns, like Excel.
