Thanks all for your compliments.

Primarily the web pages are meant for forum users. Primarily my idea is the web pages will make it easy to find many resources fast.

Big sites like russoodle's should have their sub-sites listed. I'll do that when the time seems right. For example below is just a portion of what russoodle's site offers. Compare now with future

Presently
Russoodle's PuppyLinux Stuff

How it should be
Russoodle's PuppyLinux Stuff
  • » abushcrafter's kde/graphic/internet/portable apps + more
    » alexandrion's Reborn Puppy, a remaster of Lupu 525, (168.6mb)
    » CatDude's tutorials/graphics/grub-stuff/drivers + numerous VINTAGE PUPS
    » JRB's Choicepup+Barebones+Broadcom-specific isos/PupServer435/jpack + more

I followed my own suggestion in the post above and added a table with all the sites at russoodle's site.

Thanks darkcity, looks great, check it out.

You've been doing excellent work on puppylinux.org.

Notice how I arranged russoodle and smokey01 tables to add categories. If you want to make a list of categories for what's on puppylinux.org, I'll do the same for it.

It doesn't have to be 100% complete, 90% will do. I don't need or even want the urls, just text enough to show users, especially new users what is on the site.

Bruce the link below identifies a useful idea that is commensurate with your skills.

http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 588#549588

A page sorted by categories of links to PET packages on the forum.

I think this would be very popular.

Hi Bruce, thanks for offering links for .org categories. Will look into this, still trying to get my head round whats on the wiki. Also, I believe some content needs rewriting to make it easy for beginners to read. ; -)

Bruce B,

Thanks for your work. The organization is appreciated.

@MikeMT Thanks. I'm just getting started. I updated the page today. My favorite new entry is the Puppy of the day picture. Check him out.

@smokey01 - in the meantime, I added a pet search link. Shows forum pets for this year, newest pets to oldest

@darkcity - yeah, it's hard to figure out what's on the .org

Love it, Bruce :D

You really are doing an amazing job with all this!

Edit: Could you please just remove the superfluous 'p' in Scroogle Scraper? I keep having visions of all these canines, lips curled back over killer-looking fangs and scrapping furiously to get at the files

Bruce, this is outstanding work.

Although you have a keyword search engine, would it be possible to
get the entries in alphabetical order? I believe this would help when doing a quick scan of what is available by category.

Great Job! Keep up the good work.

Yarddog,

An alphabetical would be super if the page authors had been mindful that the first letters of their topic titles would someday be key. But here is a sample of how an alphabetical sort can work out.

Code: Select all

Add a Graphical Boot Menu to your Puppy Live CD
Add an ad-blocking list to the /etc/hosts file
Add a "pfix=noram" option to your Puppy
Add ext2/3 file system to your FAT/NTFS file systems
Add Fonts to OpenOffice 2.0
Add GTK GUI frontends to a command line program in minutes
Add 'Home' Button to Nav. Toolbar, SM2
Add image to Puppy wiki
Adding and removing programs from your SFS
Adding extra programs to 2.16
Adding/ Removing fonts in Puppy
Add internet DNS servers.
additional mbr fix for Windows nag screen
Additional Programs How To Install
Add Puppy News feed to Google
Add snd-usb-audio and snd-powermac support to sound wizard
Add words to firefox dictionaries
I haven't made a search engine yet. Looking at the last entry in the list above, we see the most keyword is dictionar(ies). The simple search criteria could be 'dictionar' and it would show every title which matches by virtue of having the character match in the title.

I'm stopping short of making a downloadable database which would be quite small and very effective. I think a site search tool would be better.

I think there is software already written to do this, but I don't know of any off the top of my head. I don't even know where to look yet.

Does anyone know of software to do this or where to look?

Done! One reason I like the open source model and having others help edit our work. I never would have caught that boo-boo.

Thanks for quick response. I did not realize this was the undertaking that it now appears to be (to me at least)..
Do you ever sleep?
I see posts from you all over the forum, so you are really a busy little bee.

Thanks again for all of your hard work and dedication to this forum.

Thanks yarddog.

An incident happened today which was a little close.

And I wish to make a statement. A little legalistic I suppose.

If I am not heard from for a period of thirty days, the project referred to as the Puppy Linux Page transfer ownership to russoodle. This includes all copyrights, ownership and pages at http://www.smokey01.com/bruceb

See how simple it is. This is not a will or last testament, although it could be. But on the Internet, we often don't know what happened to people who don't post any longer.

The transfer of ownership kicks in on thirty days absence, that's all.

Bruce B

And of course as with many documents of this type, it can be modified with an updated document.

Not to worry anyone, I'm covering bases for something that is important to me and hopefully to us. Without this document, if something happened, the webpages would simply become stagnant.
