I did my usual FRUGAL Lin'N'Win install.
At the end of the session I wanted to create a save file of 32MB, as I always do.
But he partition on which I want to save is less then 512MB, so it is not listed in the list.
In which script can I change to check for less then 512MB.

2 Questions ??
Thanks for the fast reply!
REPLY from lguleder:
Click that little lock icon. If it doesn't work, delete /root/.xlockrc.
I guess I must have a different version as there isn't any lock icon to click on... I have xscreensaver-5.07 or something like that.

(2) It would be nice to see pwidgets display the new kernel # (2.6.30.3) instead of the old # once upgraded to 2.6.30.3, how do you do that?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes... I understand the kernel has nothing to do with pwidgets... what I should have said was- When you install the 'Puppylinux' widget, it displays r/h-top of desktop, the version of puppy and the kernel version. Even though I'm using the 2.6.39.3, it still displays a version of 2.6.32 Where does the Puppylinux widget get that information and how can you make it display the 2.6.39.3 instead of the 2.6.32 ? (see my desktop... I like Charles Russell backgrounds)

sszindian. Probably pwidgets shows correct information. You probably have installed the first alpha which uses 2.6.32 kernel.
Solution. Download newer version and you get 2.6.39 into pwidgets.

Hello,
Iguleder.
Tested on the CQ-56
Everything works, and fast, tested several video formats, all worked great fullscreen...
All drives including ntfs mount/unmount fine..
However, my wireless has a switch, thru F12, which turns on/off the card..
It will not turn on...
ndiswrapper sees the driver.. ( the wizard missed it as rt8100, its a rt5390, but puppy doesnt natively support it )..
But I cannot turn it on...Never happened before...
Any thoughts??
Iguleder.

Beem. /etc/rc.d/rc.shutdown is the right place. If your partition free space is under 512 mb, only ext2 savefile is possible.
Iguleder. When I switched back to the trinity icons. Mounted drive icons as pngoverlay style are working.
So somehow the it didnt work before I switched the icons and back.
Interesting.

What code would be used to return from JWM to Enlightenment?Iguleder wrote:Jim1911 - exit Enlightenment (Enlightenment -> exit), then this:Code: Select all

Interesting.
Normally my 2 HDD partitions are sdaX.
Here they are sdeX. Strange.
By selecting sdeX I could create a save file.
I had a USB flash plugged in, which has become sda1.
So something funny is going on with the device detection.

internet connection issue
With the SNS I couldn't configure the network connection.
I tried the network wizard, and autodhcp, but got a APPIPA ip.
I did the configuration then statically and I got a connection.
I have a RT73usb network device.
Work well with other puppy's on this machine (yes the dreadful Medion 8818)
Altho I have a USB flash plugged it (can be mounted) HW info says: no plugged in USB devices.

SFS load on the fly
I couldn't find this useful application: SFS load on the fly.
I know I can install it separately, but would be nice to have it standard.

tray position
Maybe called different in Enlightment, but know to me as system tray.
Glad to see I can position it to my favorite place, vertically at the left side.
But the info balloon of icons goes off the screen left. When positioned like this, the info balloon should be adapted and in this case start towards the right.

Naming confusion
Naming confusion
All of a sudden I remember that Barry announced a dpup squeeze 4992.
This one being 4991 might give confusion for the version naming logic.
Apart from 4991 having enlightning are there other differences?

Hey Iguleder I just booted dpup
e17 is default DE? Cool.
Plus browser and you even added xaos in under 100MB!
Runs smooth so far, but I'll have to try some games or stuff with dri, I can use mesa dri from squeeze repo?
BTW, do you need Sylpheed, opera has mail/chat, I think it should even handle torrents

Very annoying as I have scripts based on the logical naming sdaX.

I know, stupid question. Could have given that answer myself.
But what if Iguleder brings out a 4992?
Still more confusing.
