puppy 2 grubconfig/grub failure on install to harddrive

i have just completed another install attempt to hd drive, with usual result ...

nothing is written to grub folder on hard drive, and, indeed, nothing is ever written to mbr of the drive ...

to see the problem, run grubconfig in a terminal window, and view the error

report - unionfs error, not being able to find missing files in the grub package

i am in the default window manager, and, as always, things pop up unpredictably all over the place, and i cant do any cut-and-pasting under these conditions. my standard fix is to switch to alternate window manger, and problems disappear- jvwm95 or icewn are both nice ...

update: march 29, just in time for new .iso! i finally have puppy2 multi-booting under lilo - still getting frequent booting errors, occasional kernel panic, but, once booted, running well ...

p.s. i would prefer to update existing lilo in mbr, but best attempt so far is still a kernel panic - i will detail the exact error and point in the boot process in a diferent post
