How to make yourself localization Puppy

Hi !

Localization Puppy are very interesting !

I thinks, We should show step by step to make Localization Puppy. It's very good for all.

Welcome your recommend !

1. Locale & fonts ...

2. Keyboard & Mouse ...

3. Translate Menu, Program, Script ...

4. Add, remove programs.

5. Documents, Guide, ...

6. Skins, Colors, Images ...

7. Fix bugs, memory, RAM, ...

8. Make ISO file ...

9. Testing ...

10. Released, download Server ...

11. Marketing ...

12. Website, Forums, Big View, ...

...

First of all, Which Puppy version you using ?

If you using 1.06 you should download usr_devx.sfs (1.06)
Else 1.08 ++ download usr_devx.sfs (1.08++)

Put usr_devx.sfs to /mnt/home (livecd) or / (installed harddisk)

Details here: (Update every day)

1. Locale & fonts ...
- Show & using yourself fonts: copy fonts file (*.ttf) to /root/.fonts
- Goto Start > Control Panel > chooselocale
Select your locale ! If not found your locale (only AU,US), follow me.
Copy your folders locale (NO, vi_VN, ...) from Vector linux, Mandrake ... to /usr/lib/locale (Puppy)
Run chooselocale again, Select your locale :)
It's work ? run locale in rxvt, if you see your locale --> OK

2. Keyboard & Mouse ...
- Now, keyboard still bugs. You can using Keyboard Layout (MU). In some keyboards for Asia, you need install keyboard software for typing (SCIM, UNIKEY,...) ... Install it to your Puppy. Testing it work OK ?

Maybe you need XORG for control keyboard, mouse, VGA ?

If your keyboard software not work, Pls write your problem below.
- Auto detect Mouse work well on Puppy 1.08

3. Translate Menu, Program, Script ...
- Using MU's Puppymenu-translator :) here

it is a really very interesting matter

please don't forget the aspects of the problem, if you start your project, being different or more complicate in case of in linux not already available languages and sites (african tongues etc.)

A ha!Hacao 's post is very useful.But I think you should to post the same message in Hacao Forum.My E is not good so I can't understand something

Click on a link to open the page in a new window.
In the adressbar, replace
murga.org/~puppy
with:
murga-linux.com/puppy

Press the enter-key to load the new adress then.
